Dive Brief:
- Yesway has added eight Allsup’s convenience stores to its network in the past six months and has more locations on the way, the company announced on Tuesday.
- The eight locations are scattered across Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma — the only states in Yesway’s network that operate Allsup’s, the company’s website shows. Each location spans 6,277 square feet and is open 24 hours a day.
- Yesway also shared plans for several more stores, including three under construction in Texas, six in New Mexico and three in Oklahoma.
Dive Insight:
While most Yesway-branded convenience stores are located in the Midwest, the retailer only has about 20 locations across Texas and Oklahoma, and it has zero in New Mexico, according to its website. Most of the company’s stores across those three states are Allsup’s branded.
Each new store offers the company’s signature Allsup’s burritos, Yesway- and Allsup’s-branded private label snacks, and Allsup’s bread, milk and eggs. Most locations also feature a beer cave, Western Union services, and regular and digital currency ATMs.
“We are excited to bring our unique brand of service and hospitality to more communities and anticipate continued expansion as we look ahead to 2025,” Thomas Brown, chief real estate officer for Yesway, said in the announcement.
Despite its growth in Texas and New Mexico, Yesway has fallen behind schedule with its expansion in Oklahoma. In March, the company revealed plans to have at least 15 convenience stores in Oklahoma by the end of the year, which would have more than doubled its then-seven locations in the state. Yesway now expects to reach that 15-store goal in early 2025, a company spokesperson confirmed via email.
Founded in 2015, Fort Worth, Texas-based Yesway operates 435 convenience stores across Texas, New Mexico, South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Nebraska under the Yesway and Allsup’s banners. The retailer is an affiliate of Brookwood Financial Partners, LLC, a private equity investment firm that specializes in acquiring and managing commercial real estate.
