West Coast convenience store retailer H&S Energy Products LLC, which operates over 160 locations in California, has revealed plans to more than double its store count to 400 locations and expand its digital offerings, according to an emailed announcement on Tuesday.
Based in Orange, California, H&S operates convenience stores under the Chevron, Texaco, Shell and ExtraMile fuel brands, as well as 55 locations under its own Power Market banner.
Last year, H&S acquired 46 convenience stores in California via separate transactions with California Retail Management and a privately held retailer, respectively.
According to NACS’ 2023 Top 100 ranking, only 16 c-store retailers in the U.S. — including the recently combined Maverik and Kum & Go — have at least 400 locations in their networks.
On the digital side, H&S recently expanded its two-year-old partnership with Vroom Delivery, which surpassed $1 million in sales earlier this year, according to Tuesday’s announcement. H&S uses Vroom’s automated menu management (AMM) services, which lets retailers automatically list products online and lowers out-of-stock items to under 1% of orders.
H&S looks to hit $10 million in annual online sales via its partnership with Vroom by 2025, the company said. Besides Vroom’s AMM platform, H&S will use the delivery service’s electronic benefit transfer and loyalty integrations; Power Market+ subscriptions, and in-store ordering via Vroom’s kiosks.
"In the world of on-demand delivery, success is measured by speed, reliability, and customer satisfaction,” Sal Hassan, CEO and president of H&S, said in the announcement.
H&S also works with mobile app vendor Rovertown on its Power Market rewards app, and has partnered with electric vehicle charging company ChargePoint to roll out charging stations at select locations in its network, according to its website.
