Dive Brief:
- TXB has added three new limited-time offerings to its menu at participating locations, available now through April 2, according to a press release from the company.
- The new options include a spinach, mushroom and egg breakfast quesadilla, a waffle hash brown and Lent-friendly shrimp poppers.
- These items, only available for seven weeks, are part of TXB’s larger plans to expand its foodservice program. The company is renovating some stores to add its in-house menu to some locations and including it with other new builds, along with adding more QSR franchises.
Dive Insight:
In a bid to cater to evolving trends and tastes in foodservice, as well as to compete with QSRs for increasingly precious customer dollars, retailers like TXB are seeking to elevate their offerings.
In TXB’s case, the company focuses on creating “restaurant-quality” items and sourcing many ingredients from around Texas.
The breakfast quesadilla includes sauteed spinach and mushrooms, cheese and scrambled eggs inside a grilled flour tortilla. The hash browns are baked like a waffle to a crispy finish. The breaded jumbo shrimp poppers can be bought by themselves or as part of a platter.
“TXB wanted to kick off the year with fresh and better-for-you breakfast, lunch and dinner options for our guests to enjoy,” said Anna Felz, marketing and brand manager at TXB, in a statement.
Limited-time offerings are returning to prominence for food-focused retailers after a lull during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sixty-one percent of operators say they are a profit center for their businesses and 54% call LTOs a central part of their offerings, according to research from Datassential.
Spicewood, Texas-based TXB, formerly known as Kwik Check, operates around 47 convenience stores across Texas and Oklahoma.
