Dive Brief:
- Midwest convenience retailer True North Energy has launched a new mobile app and loyalty program with the help of c-store app company Rovertown, according to an announcement from Rovertown.
- The loyalty program, TrueRewards, lets customers save on gas and be awarded for in-store purchases, while the mobile app offers exclusive access to deals, discounts, giveaways, and trackable progress on drink club points. The app also integrates with Shell Fuel Rewards.
- True North joins other c-store retailers such as Gas N Wash, Family Express and Loop Neighborhood Market that have debuted or refreshed their mobile apps and rewards platforms alongside Rovertown this year.
Dive Insight:
True North’s rewards platform leverages PDI Technologies’ loyalty software, which offers retailers loyalty marketing solutions, personalization elements, segmentation management and data-driven insights.
Customers using TrueRewards can receive savings of 25 cents per gallon on their first fuel purchase after enrolling in the rewards program, according to the announcement. They can also earn savings of 5 cents per gallon for every $25 they spend inside a True North convenience store.
Combined with True North’s new mobile app — which also lets loyalty members stack their savings with Shell Fuel Rewards — the rewards platform is a “hallmark in the brand evolution” of the company, Kim Strode, marketing coordinator for True North, said in the announcement.
“We are excited to now have a mobile app as part of our cache of offerings to our guests that reinforces our standard of fast, friendly, clean,” Strode said.
Brecksville, Ohio-based True North Energy was founded in 1999 through a partnership between the Lyden Family and Shell Oil US. The convenience retailer operates 171 locations across Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
