Dive Insight:
Tri Star currently operates about 60 Twice Daily stores throughout Tennessee and Alabama, as well as 79 Sudden Service and nine Southern Traders locations in these states, respectively.
Blending all three banners under the Twice Daily brand is a “monumental moment” for Nashville, Tennessee-based Tri Star, CEO Steve Hostetter said in the announcement. It will mark the company’s “most significant” expansion to date.
“As we navigate these store conversions, our priority will continue to rest in our guests and store teams,” he said. “Providing the highest quality service and offerings has always been top of mind for us and will continue to stay a constant throughout this transition.”
The store conversions will take place throughout central Tennessee, moving further south as Tri Star converts its Dothan, Alabama-area Southern Traders sites into Twice Daily locations.
Tri Star acquired Tennessee-based Hollingsworth Oil, which owned Sudden Service, in July 2020. About a year later, Tri Star acquired Abbeville, Alabama-based Herndon Oil Corp., which owned Southern Traders, in September 2021.
Founded in 2000, Tri Star owns and operates about 160 c-stores and supplies fuel to wholesale trade channels in 17 states. The retailer also owns 17 White Bison Coffee shops throughout Tennessee and Alabama.
