Tri Star Energy has named Steve Perry as its new chief operating officer, according to an emailed announcement.
Perry moves to COO after spending the past two years as Tri Star’s vice president of wholesale operations, where he managed Tri Star’s company-owned and dealer-operated locations. Perry also oversaw Tri Star’s contracted and uncontracted independent convenience stores and its customer service, commercial fueling and new business growth and acquisitions segments.
As COO, Perry will continue those responsibilities while also overseeing Tri Star’s facilities’ construction and maintenance department, as well as its supply and logistics team. He’ll also support the growth of company initiatives, such as Tri Star’s Twice Daily made-to-order food program, which launched in 2023.
“[Perry] has a vision for this ever-growing company, and his expertise and leadership experience have allowed him to become a trusted partner in providing valuable support and strategic counsel for our brands,” Tri Star Energy CEO Steve Hostetter said in the announcement.
Perry brings over a decade of convenience store leadership experience to Tri Star. Prior to joining the company in 2022, he spent five years with Lawrenceville, Georgia-based retailer Majors Management, most recently as its senior vice president of operations, according to his LinkedIn bio.
Before Majors, Perry spent three years as director of sales with Dallas-based Empire Petroleum Partners — now known as GPM Empire after it was sold to GPM Investments in 2020 — and was a district, regional and operations manager for RaceTrac between 2010 and 2014, according to his LinkedIn bio.
Perry’s promotion to COO comes during a busy time for Tri Star. The company is in the process of rebranding all of its Sudden Service and Southern Traders convenience stores to the Twice Daily banner, integrating 54 c-stores from its 2023 Cox Oil acquisition, and rolling out its made-to-order foodservice program.
Founded in 2000, Nashville, Tennessee-based Tri Star Energy owns and operates over 200 c-stores and supplies fuel to wholesale trade channels in 17 states. Besides Twice Daily, its c-store banners include Sudden Service, Southern Traders, Little General and Maverick Quick Shop. Tri Star also owns 20 White Bison Coffee shops throughout Tennessee and Alabama, and supplies fuel to retail dealers in Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida and Alabama.
