TravelCenters of America promoted three leaders within its trucking segment to executive-level roles earlier this month, a spokesperson for the Westlake, Ohio-based travel center chain confirmed.
Those team members include Michael Stuewe, TA’s new senior vice president of fleet sales; Louis Ule, vice president of fleet sales; and David Thornton, vice president of TA’s truck service division.
Each of these new role changes were effective Jan. 1, the spokesperson said. While the spokesperson did not specify each person’s responsibilities, they noted that these three executives will contribute to overseeing the growth of TA’s commercial business moving forward.
Beyond running its nearly 300 travel centers across 44 states, trucking and fleet operations are a significant part of TA’s business. Through its truck service facilities located at most of its travel centers, the company employs nearly 3,000 technicians who offer maintenance, emergency repair and roadside services to large trucks.
Stuewe has been with TA since joining the company’s Petro Stopping Centers arm in 2001 as regional director of operations, according to his LinkedIn bio. He shifted to TA in 2007 as director of franchising, and held several other roles with the company before becoming divisional vice president of fleet sales — his most recent position — in January 2023.
Ule joined TA in 2015 as a national account manager and became director of sales in February 2023, according to his LinkedIn bio. As vice president of fleet sales for the company, he leads the team that consults with large fleets on how to be more efficient on the road.
Thornton assumes his role as VP of truck service after over a decade with TA. He joined the company in December 2013 as a regional sales manager and eventually moved into other roles such as director of major accounts and senior director of truck service, according to his LinkedIn bio.
