Stinker Stores has named Nate Brazier as president and CEO, Brazier confirmed to C-Store Dive via email.
Brazier, Stinker’s president and chief operating officer since 2021, has succeeded Stinker’s owner and former CEO Charley Jones in the company’s top position. Jones had been transitioning into retirement for the past three years and has decided to officially step down this year, Brazier said.
“As we go forward, we will continue to build off the foundation that Charley built, get better at what we do and how we do it each day, and make our world a better place for our people and communities,” Brazier said in a statement to C-Store Dive.
Brazier joined Stinker in 2020 as vice president before becoming president and COO the following year, according to his LinkedIn bio. One notable initiative he led as COO was the company’s increased focus on foodservice. As of last summer, Stinker was in the process of remodeling many of its stores — and building new ones — to feel more like a quick-service restaurant.
Prior to joining Stinker, Brazier spent over six years as executive director of regional operations for Maverik, according to his LinkedIn bio. He also held several positions — such as field consultant and area franchise director — over the course of three and half years with 7-Eleven.
Brazier’s move to CEO comes a few months after the convenience retailer restructured its executive team by creating several new VP-level positions. Individuals in those roles included Jeff Pidlypchak, VP of operations; Billy Colemire, VP of marketing and brand; Lesley Segadelli, VP of people and culture; and Cory Mooney, VP of information technology.
Stinker is one of several notable c-store retailers to have appointed a new CEO this year. Others have included RaceTrac, BP, Maverik and Warrenton Oil.
Boise, Idaho-based Stinker Stores has more than 100 locations in Colorado, Idaho and Wyoming. The Stinker family of companies also includes Arrowrock Supply — a grocery and tobacco wholesaler — and trucking company Westpoint Transportation.
