Dive Insight:
OnCue is one of several regional convenience retailers to have opened their largest locations in 2024, joining the likes of Stinker Stores, Rutter’s, Onvo and Weigel’s. Multiple convenience retail experts have agreed that although opening supersized locations should be situational, it mostly comes down to whether or not retailers want to prioritize foodservice.
That seems to be the case for OnCue, whose made-to-order foodservice program, The Grill, is featured inside the new travel center. The Grill’s menu includes breakfast tacos and sandwiches, chicken strips, burgers, jalapeño chicken bites, chicken wraps, wings and pizza. This program is offered at 34 of OnCue’s 71 locations.
OnCue’s travel center also features numerous grab-and-go food options — such as roller grill hot dogs — as well as the company’s coffee bar, which includes regular and frozen cold brew dispensers. The store also offers OnCue’s new line of fruit-flavored caffeinated beverages.
Like the rest of OnCue’s stores, the new location offers fresh food delivered daily from the company’s bakery and distribution facility.
“We designed this store with our customers in mind to make every stop as easy, fun and convenient as possible,” Laura Aufleger, president of OnCue, said in the announcement.
Oklahoma City is one of OnCue’s largest markets. According to its website, the company operates about 40 locations in the region. OnCue is headquartered in Stillwater, Oklahoma, which is about 65 miles north of downtown Oklahoma City.
