Lisa Mullings, president and CEO of the National Association of Truck Stop Owners for the past two decades, will resign at the end of the year, the organization announced this week.
Mullings said she’s leaving to “explore new opportunities and challenges,” adding that serving the travel center and truck stop industry has been an “incredible privilege.”
“NATSO is stronger than ever, thanks to the dedication and talent of our staff, members, and board,” Mullings said. “I have no doubt that NATSO’s best days are still ahead, and I’ll always be proud to have been part of its journey.”
Mullings will leave NATSO after 29 years with the organization. She joined as its associate director of government affairs and eventually became vice president of public affairs and general counsel before taking on the CEO role in 2004.
Prior to joining NATSO in 1995, Mullings was the communications and government affairs manager for the National Association of Chemical Recyclers, according to her bio on NATSO’s website. Prior to that, she spent five years as a staff member for the House transportation committee.
NATSO said it will appoint an interim CEO in what appears to be the beginning of a search for a permanent replacement for Mullings.
Founded in 1960, NATSO represents the travel center and truck stop industry on legislative and regulatory matters, serves as the official source of information on the diverse travel plaza and truck stop industry and conducts an annual convention and trade show, among other functions.
