National Convenience Distributors acquires Colonial Wholesale

National Convenience Distributors (NCD) has acquired fellow c-store supplier Colonial Wholesale Distributing Inc. for an undisclosed amount, according to a Wednesday press release.
The deal “greatly enhances” Colonial’s capabilities and product offerings — which mainly include grocery, candy, cigarettes, cigars, automotive and health items — Yasin Saad, founder of Colonia, said in the announcement. NCD’s 20,000 SKUs focus on foodservice, coffee and a variety of other categories, according to its website.
This brings NCD into Florida, which is its 13th state of operation excluding the District of Columbia, according to the announcement and the distributor’s website. Colonial will become a newly created division within NCD moving forward.

Farmingdale, New York-based NCD’s latest acquisition is its first since it purchased Century Distributors, a Mid-Atlantic wholesale supplier, in December 2021. By acquiring Colonial, NCD is now expanding its presence along the East Coast, and its revenues are approaching $3.5 billion through its work with nearly 24,000 U.S. retailers, according to the announcement.

The deal also positions NCD to acquire more wholesale distribution firms and strengthens its relationships with customers, vendors and employees, Jeff Allen, CEO of NCD, said in the announcement.

"The fragmented convenience wholesale distribution industry continues to consolidate and I’m proud that NCD is the leader when it comes to acquiring and integrating businesses in our market,” Allen said. “Colonial is an amazing business and we are fortunate to add them to the NCD family.”

Tampa, Florida-based Colonial was founded in 1998 and has since grown into one of the leading c-store distributors in Florida, according to its website. The company services over 5,000 retail locations and has over 5,000 SKUs in its portfolio.

"Now, as part of a larger organization, the opportunities throughout Colonial are greatly increased and we look forward to continuing impressive growth,” Saad said in the announcement.
