Murphy USA has named Alejandra Barron as its new vice president and head of marketing, according to a Sept. 14 LinkedIn announcement from Barron.
In her LinkedIn profile, Barron also notes that her role with Murphy USA began this month. A spokesperson from Murphy USA did not respond to a request seeking confirmation of the news and further details.
Barron noted in her LinkedIn profile that she will focus on growing brand affinity for the company’s portfolio of banners, including Murphy USA, Murphy Express and QuickChek convenience stores. This marks Barron’s first foray into the convenience store industry, according to her LinkedIn bio.
Barron brings over a decade of marketing experience across several industries to her role at Murphy USA. Prior to joining the convenience store retailer, Barron was vice president of marketing for Bed Bath & Beyond for over a year, and was senior director of marketing for AutoZone for over four years before that. Barron has also held senior marketing roles with Home Depot, JCPenny and consumer goods company Newell Brands.
It’s unclear if Barron is replacing an executive or if her position is new. The retailer’s current chief digital officer, Robert Chumley, led its marketing efforts between 2016 and 2022, according to Murphy USA’s 2023 10-K report.
Murphy USA operates more than 1,700 stores in 27 states, including 1,566 Murphy USA and Murphy Express locations and 159 QuickChek stores. Murphy USA stores are typically located near a Walmart, while Murphy Express stores are standalone sites.
