Dive Insight:
Middleby, which began as a bakery oven business more than a century ago, has grown into a distributor of all sorts of kitchen equipment and products through the years. In the past year alone, the company has made acquisitions that focus on ice machines, filtration, dispensed beverage systems, automated washing machines, packaging equipment and more.
This latest deal aims to help Terry expand its customer base and sales moving forward, FitzGerald noted.
With Chandler, Arizona-based Terry, Middleby is gaining technology that aims to eliminate and prevent scale build up from water in commercial foodservice equipment — including steam, ice and beverage products. Terry has $5 million in annual sales, according to the announcement.
“Terry Citryne is an exceptional, proprietary technology that we are very excited to add to our portfolio,” FitzGerald said. “The chemical free, biodegradable solution is proven effective in the removal and prevention of water scale, which is extremely important in commercial foodservice.”
Elgin, Illinois-based Middleby develops and manufactures solutions used in commercial foodservice, food processing and residential kitchens. Its well-known products in the convenience store space include rapid-cook and ventless ovens, gas and electric griddles, roller grills and open-air merchandisers.
