Dive Brief:
- Maverik and Kum & Go convenience stores that offer diesel fuel now accept TransConnect Services’ fleet and fuel cards to pay for fill-ups, according to a recent announcement.
- Customers who used TCS’s cards received an average of 47 cents off per gallon during Q1 2024, according to the announcement. Members can also access its mobile app, which features its location finder for the best discounts along different routes as well as 24-hour money transferring services.
- This is the latest in a series of fuel discount partnerships Maverik has implemented over the past year as the convenience retailer continues to evolve its offerings amid its integration of Kum & Go.
Dive Insight:
Besides Maverik, TCS also works with several of major convenience store retailers, such as 7-Eleven, TravelCenters of America, Casey’s General Stores and Kwik Trip. Its fleet and fuel cards are accepted at roughly 2,000 locations around the U.S.
Partnering with Salt Lake City-based Maverik — which operates more than 400 convenience stores in addition to over 400 Kum & Go locations across over a dozen Midwest and western states — is an opportunity for TCS to expand its reach out west, the company said in the announcement.
“Maverik locations are complementary to our existing network and will provide additional options for our clients who fuel in the western part of the country,” Chris Courts, president and managing director of TCS, said in the announcement. “This addition allows us to enhance our mission at TCS, which is to level the playing field between small-to-medium-size trucking companies and larger fleets.”
Formed in 2014, Cordova, Tennessee-based TCS is a wholly owned subsidiary of full-service freight factor company Apex Capital Corp.
For Maverik, the TCS partnership marks the third new fuel payment service it’s added since last summer. The convenience retailer has also tapped the RV and fuel discount services from trucking technology company TruckSmarter and the fleet and fuel cards from truck fleet management firm Comdata.
