Dive Insight:
With store-count growth continuing to be a focus for c-store retailers, Majors has been one of the more active players on the M&A front. The retailer made five acquisitions in 2022 and, with its latest, has completed 18 deals in the past three years, Ben Smith, president of Majors, said in the announcement.
The 21 Michigan-area c-stores included in the acquisition are located in Battle Creek, Galesburg, Colon, Nashville, Springport, Portage, Portland, Grand Rapids, Belding and Rockford. Majors has also acquired Davis’s supply of fuels to 11 commission marketers, and all current Davis employees will transition to Majors, according to the announcement.
By moving into Michigan, Majors now operates in 19 U.S. states.
"It is our privilege to serve the residents of Western Michigan for all their retail fueling and convenience needs, and to continue to enhance Majors' reputation as a first-class transaction partner,” Smith said in the announcement.
