Dive Brief:
- Majors Management has partnered with software firm Gravitate to update its fuel supply and carrier management processes, the companies announced on Monday.
- Gravitate’s AI-enabled supply and dispatch platform is expected to be live this summer at Majors’ 1,400 retailer and dealer locations.
- Majors is the latest convenience retailer updating technology to improve and streamline operations, joining companies like TXB, which recently announced a new network services provider, and RaceTrac, which added remote monitoring to its fuel pumps.
Dive Insight:
Majors’ agreement with Gravitate will help the c-store retailer by managing contracts, automatically creating orders when sites are running low on fuel, sharing those fuel orders with the third-party carriers to bring that fuel, providing estimated arrivals for that fuel and generating reports and analytics to help manage performance and inform decision making.
“As Majors continues to grow, the efficiency of our operations is increasingly important,” said Ismail Uzdil, Majors Management’s senior vice president fuels. “We have a well-diversified supply portfolio and great carriers, but we needed the right software solution to optimize our supply decisions and logistics execution.”
Gravitate’s other convenience retail partners include Kwik Trip, Sheetz, Casey’s General Stores and Nouria.
After a multi-year M&A spree from 2019 to 2023 which culminated in the purchase of most of MAPCO Express from Chilean holding company Copec Inc, the company has turned its attention toward operations. It hired Billy Colemire from Stinker Stores as its senior director of fresh food, dispensed beverage and loyalty last month and named Paul Titley as its new vice president of mergers and integration earlier in April.
