Dive Insight:
Although Kwik Trip has secured permits for four sites in Fargo, only two have been approved for building, while the others have received approval for parking lots, according to Fargo city records.
The Fargo c-stores that have been approved for construction — located at 4177 Crossroads Drive S. and 4501 37 Ave. S. — will both be about 11,000 square feet. Kwik Trip will spend about $4.5 million to build each location, according to Fargo city records. Each will feature a car wash and three restrooms once built, and the Crossroads site is expected to have 10 fuel dispensers in the forecourt.
Kwik Trip’s spokesperson said that although the company will break ground on two locations in Fargo in June, the timeline to open the first one in November “is all weather dependent.” The spokesperson did not specify which location is expected to open first.
Casey’s General Stores and Circle K will be Kwik Trip’s biggest competition in Fargo. Those retailers operate 15 and 10 stores in the area, respectively, according to their websites.
Kwik Trip’s spokesperson also confirmed that the retailer will break ground on two c-stores in Moorhead, Minnesota — the town next to Fargo — in May.
