Dive Brief:
- Gate Petroleum Company is now using Invenco by GVR’s Passport retail point-of-sale system across its 72-location convenience store network, according to a Wednesday announcement.
- With the integration of Passport, Gate will also bring made-to-order capabilities to 30 locations that offer the company’s Fresh Kitchen foodservice program in the coming months. This will allow customers to customize menu items.
- After testing multiple POS options over the past year, Gate chose Passport because it could easily control both types of fuel dispensers at its c-stores and remotely manage and monitor all of its locations.
Dive Insight:
As c-store tech stacks continue to get more complicated, products that can integrate with a variety of different systems and streamline all systems in a store becomes more important for retailers.
“After reviewing the available options, we determined that Invenco by GVR’s connected and integrated offerings met the high standards we expect for technology partners, in particular their ability to play a more agnostic role integrating with legacy programs,” said John Cockerham, vice president of operations for Gate Petroleum.
New employees can be trained on the system in less than 20 minutes or use Passport’s resource center to train themselves if necessary, according to the announcement.
Passport can cover POS needs at the pump, at self-checkout kiosks and during food ordering, according to the company’s website. Passport integrations include loyalty programs like Punchh and NCR, e-commerce firms such as Vroom Delivery and Lula Commerce, and processing networks including BP, Chase and ExxonMobil.
Jacksonville, Florida-based Gate operates convenience stores in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas. It also runs car washes, fleet and fuel services, real estate and hospitality services.
