• EG America, the U.S. subsidiary of convenience retailer EG Group, will soon begin searching for a new company president, a person familiar with the situation confirmed.
• Last fall, EG America’s chief financial officer, Caroline Taitelbaum, took over as interim president after George Fournier was unable to continue in the role on health grounds, the source said. After several months on medical leave, Fournier returned to EG America in May as senior vice president of supply chain, the source confirmed.
• Despite having been in the interim role since October, there is no plan for Taitelbaum to permanently occupy the position, and EG America will begin seeking a new leader “in the near term,” the source noted.

EG America’s search for a new president comes amid a busy period for the company, which is in the midst of offloading 415 U.S. c-store properties as part of a $1.5 billion sale-leaseback deal with Realty Income Corporation. Many of those locations — which include Cumberland Farms, Tom Thumb, Fastrac and Sprint c-stores — have begun transferring ownership over the past couple weeks.

A spokesperson from EG Group declined to comment when asked about the search for a new company president.

Taitelbaum has remained EG America’s CFO while operating as interim president, according to her LinkedIn bio. She has held several other positions with the company since joining Cumberland Farms in 2005, including vice president of accounting operations, vice president of compliance and financial reporting, and director of compliance and financial reporting.

According to his LinkedIn bio, Fournier became president of EG America in 2019 after holding numerous roles with Cumberland Farms over the course of 19 years, including vice president of supply chain, director of marketing and category manager.

EG America isn’t the only major U.S. c-store retailer making changes atop its executive team. Wawa named a new company president in February, while 7-Eleven did the same last month. In April, Pilot Co. named a new CEO.

Blackburn, U.K.-based EG Group currently has more than 5,500 c-stores across the U.S., U.K. and Ireland, Europe and Australia.
