Dive Insight:
EG America has been upping its food game over the past year. This news comes roughly a month after the company unveiled a new “express case” that’s filled with fresh sandwiches and snacks from national brands like Chobani, Sabra, Hillshire Farm and Kings Hawaiian.
Meanwhile, EG America recently revealed its Sensible Snacks grab-and-go food program, which includes better-for-you items like Calbee Harvest Snaps, Jackson’s Sweet Potato Chips, Hippeas Chickpea Puffs and Lesser Evil Popcorn.
Last fall, the company rolled out three new proprietary QSR concepts — Alanza Pizza, Burger Baby and Wing Trip — at one of its Cumberland Farms locations in Massachusetts.
EG America signalled that it was taking a stronger focus on food when it created the role of vice president of food, dispensed beverage and QSR last fall and hired Wawa veteran Mendy Meriwether for the job.
