Todd O’Malley, executive vice president and chief operating officer for convenience and fuel retailer Delek US Holdings, will leave the company in September to pursue other opportunities, according to a Friday announcement.
Meanwhile, Delek has named energy industry veteran Joseph Israel as its new executive vice president of operations for Delek US and Delek Logistics, effective March 27. Israel, along with Delek’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Patrick Reilly, will split O’Malley’s responsibilities, according to the announcement.
Before joining Delek in March 2021, O'Malley was a special advisor to a number of private equity and public company CEOs and board of directors regarding corporate strategy, M&A, financial structuring and commercial optimization. Prior to that, he held C-suite positions at a variety of energy companies, including president and CEO at Citizens Companies; executive vice president and chief commercial officer for Gulf Oil; president of PBF Logistics; and senior vice president and chief commercial officer for PBF Energy.
Nithia Thaver, Delek’s executive vice president and president of refining since 2018, is also stepping down to pursue other opportunities. He’ll remain with the company until May 21.
Prior to joining Delek, Thaver was senior vice president of strategy and business development for Philadelphia Energy Solutions, and held various roles at Sunoco, ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil before that.
"I'd like to thank Todd and Nithia for their many contributions to Delek and for their commitment to ensuring a smooth leadership transition,” Delek’s President and CEO Avigal Soreq said in the announcement.
Israel, who has over 25 years of energy experience, was most recently president and CEO of Par Petroleum LLC, a subsidiary of oil and gas company Par Pacific. He was also senior vice president of Par Pacific Holdings, and a member of Par Pacific's board of directors. Israel has also held leadership positions at Hunt Refining Company and Alon USA, which was acquired by Delek in 2017.
Also during this time, Delek has named Tommy Chavez its new senior vice president of refining, effective April 10, according to Friday’s announcement. Chavez brings over three decades of refining experience to Delek, most recently with TotalEnergies, where he was general manager, Port Arthur Refinery and Petrochemical Complex. He’s also held general manager and vice president roles with Marathon and Phillips 66.
Brentwood, Tennessee-based Delek operates about 250 convenience stores in Central and West Texas and New Mexico.
