Dive Brief:
- Dandy added a limited-time line of maple waffle sandwiches to its foodservice menu on March 4, the company announced this week.
- The sandwiches, which include various breakfast and lunch options in between a maple waffle bun, can be ordered through the in-store kiosks or from a grab-and-go case
- Dandy is not the only c-store trying waffle-based sandwiches. Fellow Northeastern retailer Stewart’s Shops rolled out its spicy chicken wafflewich in February.
Dive Insight:
Dandy’s sandwiches are part of the “big flavor” trend that Jessica Williams, CEO of consulting firm Food Forward Thinking, said in an earlier interview would expand in 2024. The company’s new chicken and waffle sandwich, which includes a sweet maple waffle bun and spicy Mike’s Hot Honey sauce, in particular exemplifies the trend.
Dandy’s offers multiple varieties of the sandwich for breakfast. Customers can grab a waffle sandwich that includes egg, cheese and a choice of meat — chicken, ham, bacon or sausage. Visitors who want a more customized version can build their own.
"We are excited to introduce the Maple Flavored Waffle Bun Sandwich as a limited time offering," said Dyson Williams, vice president at Dandy, in a statement. "This new addition showcases our commitment to offering innovative menu options that we feel our customers will love."
The company is also using its Dandy Stache Rewards loyalty program to share value offers on these LTOs. They include two chicken and waffle sandwiches for $8, a waffle breakfast sandwich and hash brown or coffee for $5 and two breakfast sandwiches for $7.50.
Dandy’s menu also includes a variety of pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, subs and roller grill items.
Pennsylvania-based Dandy has more than 60 locations in Pennsylvania and New York.
