The convenience store industry has seen dozens of executive changes so far this year as the first half of 2023 comes to a close. From the nation’s biggest retailers to small and mid-sized operators, executives have shifted roles internally, joined new companies and been promoted over the past six months.
The headliners included a major organizational restructure in the merchandising department at 7-Eleven, a shuffle on the foodservice and data leadership teams at Casey’s General Stores, and new CEOs taking over at TravelCenters of America, Pilot Co. and others.
In addition to new hires, convenience retail also saw chief executives retire or step down from their roles, while two longtime c-store industry leaders — Tom Love and Jay Erickson — passed away in March. Multiple c-store operators also named new board chairmen during the first half of the year, while others divided their president and CEO positions into two.
Here’s a roundup of some of the top c-store executive moves from the first half of 2023.
