Dive Brief:
- Casey’s General Stores has partnered with software company IntelAgree to streamline and scale its contract operations, the companies announced this week.
- The Iowa-based retailer will use IntelAgree’s AI-driven platform for contract management matters, including handling vendor agreements or legal and procurement contracts, according to the announcement.
- The partnership continues Casey’s ongoing technology development, which includes adopting several other AI-driven platforms to improve its operations and loyalty program in recent years.
Dive Insight:
Casey’s, which operates nearly 3,000 convenience stores across 20 states, will use IntelAgree’s Saige Assist tool as part of the partnership. Saige Assist, a generative AI assistant, features a suite of functions that aim to help retailers and other companies address contract management challenges such as contract editing and comparing, as well as offer real-time guidance and advice.
At a broad level, Saige Assist, alongside the rest of IntelAgree’s tools, aims to help Casey’s mitigate risk, streamline workflows and make smarter decisions, the companies said.
"IntelAgree gives our teams the tools to work faster, reduce risk, and focus on what really matters — delivering value to our guests and team members,” Katrina Lindsey, chief legal officer at Casey’s, said in the announcement.
Casey’s has used AI in several ways in recent years, notably through its automated ordering technology, which the retailer first tested in late 2022 and expanded to its entire network a year later. The system, developed by food and beverage technology company SYNQ3 Restaurant Solutions, answers incoming phone calls, processes new orders, offers reorder and upsell options and connects to Casey’s point-of-sale system and loyalty platform automatically.
Casey’s has also used AI to identify and understand its customers’ behaviors, manage and scale its legacy tech systems, and manage its demand planning efforts.
