Dive Insight:
Allsup’s sells around 27 million burritos each year in its stores, according to the announcement. By bringing the savory items online and making them available for delivery, the retailer has created another point of purchase — and continues to grow its e-commerce presence — as it aims to attract more customers.
Customers can order the burritos in packages of six, 12, 24, 48 or 72. Prices for the beef and bean burrito packs range from $49.99 to $159.99, while the shredded beef Chimichanga burrito packs go for between $69.99 and $159.99, with no 72-pack option.
For sauce and salsa, customers can order packs of two or four of either, or can even bundle the two options. A two- and four-pack of Allsup’s taco sauce is available for $19.99 and $29.99, respectively, while the same options for its salsa go for $24.99 and $44.99, respectively. The taco sauce and salsa bundle, which includes two of each, is available for $29.99.
Allsup’s began serving its beef and bean burritos in 1974. Besides the original and shredded beef Chimichanga option, the retailer also offers a chile relleno-style hatch green chile and cheese burrito.
