Dive Brief:
- 7-Eleven Inc. has launched new pizza, breadstick and roller grill options at participating 7-Eleven, Stripes and Speedway c-stores for the start of football season, according to a Tuesday announcement.
- The new items include a spicy meat pizza, cheesy garlic bread sticks and a chicken bacon ranch roller. 7-Eleven has also added its Korean BBQ boneless chicken wings — which debuted as a limited-time offer in July — to the tailgate menu.
- This isn’t the first time 7-Eleven has launched food specials for football season. In February, the retailer gave customers a free large pizza through its 7Now delivery app during the Super Bowl.
Dive Insight:
Each of these new items is available for purchase in participating areas in-store or via the 7Now app, which offers real-time tracking on orders. The delivery app is separate from the retailer’s 7Rewards app, which was recently redesigned with several new upgrades.
While 7-Eleven had already offered a standard pepperoni pizza, the new spicy meat option combines the crispy salami with spicy sausage, beef and bacon, which is then topped with diced jalapeno peppers and red pepper flakes. A whole pie is available for $6 through Aug. 29.
The chicken bacon ranch roller is a spin on 7-Eleven’s buffalo chicken roller and made with turkey bacon, while the cheesy garlic bread sticks come in two-counts for $2.29.
The Korean BBQ boneless chicken wings come in eight-piece servings. 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards members can get them for the special price of $3 until Sept. 1, 2024.
"With football season right around the corner, tailgating emerges as a celebration of camaraderie, competition, and of course, irresistible eats," Vareesha Shariff, 7-Eleven's senior director of hot food, said in the announcement.
Irving, Texas-based 7-Eleven operates, franchises and/or licenses more than 13,000 convenience stores in the U.S. and Canada.
